past in my present

For me and my family New Years has never been a big deal. I always feel like everyone thinks its a clean slate and a fresh start but in reality its just another day. For example how you spend your New Years Eve is how your year will be, going to the best party find the best date etc. but life is more than that. The best way to make the best of a new year is recognizing that your past is part of who you are and learning from your mistakes and accomplishments and growing because of them. So instead of searching for the best of the best, realizes that spending time with your family, friends and loved ones will make it the best News Years and year yet.

I hope that you all embrace your past and make 2011 a great year.

brown eyed sandy's

This flower reminds me of my mom. We used to have these planted all over our backyard and when I was a kid I thought they should be named brown eyed sandy's after my mother and her big brown eyes. Whats so special about susan's eyes anyway?

perspective

I have spent almost my entire life looking down this river and it wasn't until a couple of weeks ago that I saw it in a different light. My grandma built a new deck overlooking it an saw this fantastic view. It means never stop lookng at familiar places because you can always see them in a new way.

Carmalized

The intense heat of the september heat wave had turned this fern from its vibrant green colour to this intense burnt caramel. Im looking forward to what the rest of fall has in store for our senses.

derelict

Dawson City is an interesting place. Sometimes it looks like the gold rush is alive and well with all the touristy brightly coloured false front buildings and then you'll take a second glance and see how many buildings were abandoned when the gold was gone. Since then they have been ignored until they have been condemned and are literally falling apart. Its a pretty amazing to see a house that has for the most part been uninhabited for a hundred years, for some reason that makes me feel more connected to jack London than his over manicured cabin in the woods.
