You never know what you are going to miss until you no longer have it. 3 years ago I was annoyed that every morning I was awoken at 5am by the sound of sweeping being done at every house on my block. It has been one of the many things I have missed about Botswana since I left.

Through my years of travelling abroad and here in Canada, I quickly learned how lucky I am to be Canadian. We live in one of the greatest places in the world and yet on a daily basis we take it for granted. Today we celebrate our country for its beauty, its freedom and diversity. May we not forget these great qualities and appreciate what we have every day of the year.
